IMPORTANT TRAVEL DISCLOSURE:
All students are individually responsible for making their travel arrangements to and from their respective program. NHI will ask for detailed travel information to ensure quick and safe pick up from the airport, train, or bus stations. On registration day and departure day NHI and university staff will be present and accessible to greet students and guide them through registration. In the information provided, NHI indicates the city and designated airport(s) for student pick up.

The cost of travel to the program destination is not included in the program tuition. Additionally, the tuition does not include transportation from the airport to the university. In some cases, our university partners provide this as a courtesy during a certain window of time (Colorado LDZ, New York LDZ). In other situations, NHI will coordinate and arrange for shuttle service from the airport to the university for a shuttle fee of $45 (round trip). This fee will also ensure transportation service with accompanied NHI staff member if the student is delayed, has an unexpected flight change, or arrives before or after the regular shuttle service schedule. If you are taking a bus or train you may also be required to pay the $45 USD fee as university shuttles do not have bus and train on their normal routes. NHI will make special arrangements with you.

NHI staff will be in the baggage claim area during the designated times wearing colorful t-shirts that say “NHI”, “Great Debate”, “LDZ”, or “CWS”. They will also have signs that say “NHI” and/or”Great Debate”, “LDZ”, or “CWS”. NHI and university shuttles will run regularly during designated times that are indicated. We recommend that they locate an eatery and wait in the terminal before heading to baggage claim or contact NHI about other possibilities.

Please be aware that if your student is arriving before the designated time he/she may have to wait 1 – 2 hours for an NHI staff person to arrive. Similarly, if your child arrives after the designated time he/she will be picked up but may not be able to check into their room until later in the evening due to university staffing schedules. Also, if your child arrives to the airport after 3:00PM your child may not make it in time for opening ceremonies and regular check-in (closes at 3:15PM). If your child arrives after 4:00PM your child may not make it for dinner which is normally scheduled for 5:00PM. Therefore, please make preparations and instruct your child to grab a light dinner before leaving the airport if they are arriving after 4:00PM or late in the evening.

Students and families may also make private arrangements to and from the university and airport/train/bus station, we ask that you inform us of those plans so that we are prepared to welcome your child. Also, if you know that your child will arrive outside of the times of the regular shuttle service, we also recommend you communicate with us so that we can capture all the details and make arrangements. If you child is traveling internationally, we recommend to provide NHI with copies of international travel documents and communicate about departure requirements.

Finally, we are not able to provide a one way option for the shuttle fee, therefore all students whether they use the shuttle only one way or on both travel days have a set rate of $45 USD. Please let us know of any questions you have.

We ask that you plan for your flight to arrive between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm on the first day since we will have scheduled shuttles running from the airport to the university during these times. If your flight is delayed, your flight options are limited and you need to arrive after 3:00 pm, we will still have a member of our staff waiting for you at baggage claim who will arrange transportation for you to the university. For your departure arrangements, all programs will end at 10am, and airport shuttles will be working from 10am-3pm. If your child has a flight after 3pm, we will have them at the airport by 3pm and they will await their flight from that time on.
