NHI adheres to its Mission and Scope, as per its Code of Professionalism and Ethics.

NHI's admission criteria include:

• Current 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students
• 3.0/4.0 GPA for 9th graders; 3.2/4.0 GPA for 10th and 11th graders
• College-bound students
• All students are welcome, including international students

NHI's Admission Policy

All students, regardless of race, gender, political affiliation, economic circumstances, or religious belief are welcome to apply for participation in NHI. Returning student members receive limited priority admissions. Admission for new students is first come, first served. NHI reserves the right to deny admission based on poor conduct.

Selection Equity

NHI shall ensure that admitted groups are proportionately balanced in gender and geographic region, and that low-income and rural populations are represented.

1. Economic circumstances shall not prevent admission consideration. Where possible, the NHI scholarship fund considers low-income and rural applicants whose high school guidance counselors request financial assistance, based on demonstrated family need and/or community circumstance.
2. No applicant with disabilities shall be excluded from admission consideration unless NHI determines that the disability impedes full participation or comprehension of program goals.
3. No applicant shall participate as a result of political intervention, pressure, or favor sought by outside interests.
4. No applicant shall be disqualified because of political or religious affiliation, custom, or practice.
5. No applicant shall be required to participate in activities contrary to their religious or political belief.
